In the modern era of the game, everyone is studying with the same GTO tools and methods, which is making edges decrease over time.

On top of that, poker as a profession has many threats that we don’t have control over: government regulations that may ban the game in your country, poker platforms that increase rake out of nowhere, and new technologies that make cheating easier.

With so many risks, how to justify being a pro?

In my opinion, the only way to justify playing poker professionaly is if you can make a lot of money.

But now comes the problem: the average online 500nl reg makes $40-$50k/year

That’s just not enough. Not enough compensation for the huge risk that this profession brings. You need more. Way more.

So the question is: how? How can you belong to the top 1% of regs making multiple 6 figures/year?

The answer is Timing Tell Exploits.

You may wonder how I started with timing tell exploits.

It all started when I was playing 500zone games on Bodog/Ignition. Those games have a 15 seconds fixed timebank. At some point, I realized I was getting 3bet way more often after a tank RFI compared to a normal RFI. Facing that aggression made me start thinking about implementing timing tell exploits in my own game.

So I did some personal research. Found out about TimeMojo, a timing tells tracker that used to be available online. Found some of their articles, and they confirmed what I had been experiencing: people that take longer to act preflop fold more to a reraise.

Those articles convinced me to start trying the exploits on my own, seeing what works and what doesn’t. I decided to trust my intuition and attack tank ranges in most spots.

And it worked. I started to crush midstakes like never before. From this graph forward, everything changed for me. Timing tells became my primary focus.

At some point, I was so obsessed with timing tells that I decided I needed to gather actual real human timing data myself. I needed to study how ranges change based on timing.

With this in mind, I coded my own GTO Trainer. It took me 5 months of programming to build it. I called it Grind Simulator and gave it to my students to play.

Over the course of a year, they played over 1 Million hands in the program — and I tracked their every move. Finally, I had real timing tell data to study.

With the data in hand, I collected frequencies and range composition stats for all the major preflop and postflop spots.

I was able to answer questions like “How often do people fold to a check-raise after tanking with the flop cbet?”, or “How often are people bluffing after a snap bet on the river?”, or even “How often do people fold to a second barrel after tank calling flop?”

With these stats in hand, I ran preflop and postflop nodelocks to discover the best way to exploit these imbalances.
